As the foam consists of 99% air and only 1% PUR and is CFC-free, it can be considered environmentally sound, in contrast to other packaging materials that consume up to three times as much energy and cause four times as much air pollution over their life cycle.
The objectives of these regulations (EN 13428, EN 13431, Article 11 of the Directive) cover the following points: prevention through source reduction, energy recovery and the avoidance of heavy metal concentrations.
