Packaging for medical technology Diagnostic, therapy and laboratory equipment safely through the entire supply chain: low-vibration, clean and documentable.

Packaging solutions for medical technology and laboratory supplies

FUCHSPACK develops protective packaging for medical, rehabilitation, orthopaedic and laboratory technology: minimal-contact suspension packaging for sensitive devices, form-fitting foam packaging for heavy systems and accessories, and airbag packaging with optional ESD protection for electronics and sensors. The aim is a seamless product protection chain from the manufacturer via the dealer to the end user: reproducible, clean and cost-effective.

Whether diagnostics, therapy, rehabilitation or care, medical, rehabilitation and orthopaedic devices are subject to particularly high requirements. These are devices that promote or preserve people's health: a misaligned sensor, a hairline crack in the housing or a scratched lens is not just a complaint but a safety risk. Transport must therefore be safeguarded at every stage.

We offer a wide range of protective packaging against vibration, mechanical impact and electrostatic discharge, and tailor it to your devices as precisely as you tailor your products to medical needs. We come to you, advise you on site and test the solution in our packaging lab. Because what is at stake is the most valuable thing of all.

What does medical technology demand of protective packaging?

Those responsible for packaging in medical technology have to ensure product protection, cleanliness and traceability all at once. Typical requirements:

  • Vibration- and shock-sensitive devices Measuring equipment, optics and calibrated assemblies must neither shift in transit nor absorb undamped shocks, otherwise the calibration will be out by the time the device reaches the customer.
  • Minimal-contact packaging Housings, displays and surfaces should not touch the box; abrasion and particles inside the packaging are undesirable.
  • Electronics and sensors Control units, sensors and circuit boards need protection against electrostatic discharge, reproducibly across every shipment.
  • Multi-stage supply chain Manufacturer → specialist dealer → clinic or end user, plus loan devices and returns for servicing: the packaging has to survive several journeys or be reusable.
  • Documented processes Quality management expects defined, repeatable packaging instructions rather than individual solutions improvised by packers.

Which packaging solutions are suitable for medical technology and laboratories?

For medical devices we usually combine minimal-contact systems with a defined fixation, tested in our packaging lab and documented for your quality management.

Suspension packaging: fixation without contact

The device is held between film and frame, touches nothing but the membrane and remains visible. Reusable, which makes it ideal for loan devices, returns for servicing and shipments between sites.

Airbag packaging with ESD protection for electronics

Air-filled UNIQBAG bags absorb shocks and enclose control units, handheld devices and sensors; with protection against electrostatic discharge on request. Transparent for visual inspection at goods-in.

Foam packaging for heavy systems and accessories

For heavier devices, stands, power supplies and accessory sets, INSTAPAK foam cushions form a form-fitting bed inside the box, reproducible for series production too.

Precisely fitting custom boxes

The right box reduces empty space and movement inside the parcel: the basis of every low-vibration packaging solution and a prerequisite for the PPWR empty-space rule.

How packaging optimisation with FUCHSPACK works

Five steps – from the on-site analysis to roll-out, with no risk to your day-to-day shipping.
  1. On-site consultation We look at your products, packing stations and shipping routes – and record the conditions of your processes.
  2. Development and testing in the packaging lab Together we define the protective packaging and test it with your original product.
  3. Cost-benefit calculation Packing time, material, freight and damage – all figures in black and white as proof of success.
  4. Trial order You receive the system including material on trial and test it in live operation.
  5. Roll-out and update service Only once you are convinced do we close the deal. On request, we check every two years whether everything is still at its optimum.

Frequently asked questions: packaging for Medical technology

Through defined fixation: suspension packaging holds the device between film and frame, while foam cushions form a form-fitting bed. We test both with your original device in our packaging lab before you decide.
Yes. Suspension packaging is reusable and suitable as returnable packaging: the customer simply places the device back into the same fixation. That saves material and secures the return journey for servicing.
Yes. On request we equip airbag packaging with protection against electrostatic discharge, for control units, sensors and circuit boards.
We define the packaging together with you, test it in our packaging lab and record its structure and handling, so that you receive a repeatable packaging instruction for your packing stations.
